Jacob Burandt UWEC GIS Learning Reflections

This blog is meant to showcase the maps I've made and the skills I've acquired throughout the semesters of GIS I (Spring 2013) and GIS II (Fall 2013). For each post, I will summarize the goals, methods, and complications that ultimately created each lab.

Jacob Burandt
As of May 2014, I'm a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor's of Science in Geographic Techniques, and a Geospatial Certificate in GIS with a Mapping Emphasis. Throughout my GIS studies at UW-Eau Claire, I have had many projects, but not all required the same depth of critical thinking. I enjoyed those that did the most. They came with a state of confusion and a driving force of heightened interest. With challenge cames an itchy desire for more knowledge and understanding. The projects I have learned the most from have come with that state of unknowing. My current interests/projects deal with LiDAR and/or elevation models (DEMs/DSMs), trying to develop a routing application for runners based on elevation, and my capstone project; which sought to find spatial patterns to school performance in Wisconsin high schools and the factors that might contribute to them.
